Forum

You can use the Forum to communicate or discuss things with other members of the community. This is a place where you can post ideas, questions, problems, reactions or messages of encouragement. In the Forum, everyone can post or take part in discussions.

Please note.  Although universities adhere to strict research ethics frameworks, in which confidentiality of information is quaranteed, most of this site is open to the public. Only the Secure area is password restricted. When discussing issues that are sensitive please make efforts to anonymise or generalise comments. It is not acceptable to place raw confidential information on the Forum. It is recognised that when community members are able to relate the ideas to their workplace, the information will have far more value to readers than when this would not be possible. Totally abstracting from the real World would therefore not be the best option. Often the lessons learnt from an extreme event can be described without going into detail, i.e. exact project names, budgets, locations, partners, etc. do not have to be mentioned. Instead, you can choose to call a supplier "supplier A" without disclosing any names, but still reflecting on lessons learnt and on problems observed. Especially when a project is in a critical phase (e.g. during an investigation), or it is very sensitive for other reasons, sometimes it is better to not refer to this project at all.

We have redesigned the website.  Hopefully it is more user friendly.  Unfortunately we are still restricted to SharePoint which isn't ideal.  The resource is still being developed.  We would welcome your thoughts on how well the resource works and how we might improve any aspect of it.  Comments can be posted to the forum or can be sent via email to david.denyer@cranfield.ac.uk

A key element of the PDW design is this website through which we can exchange papers and updates, so that we can spend less time on the day on formal presentations and more time in heated discussion and debate.

If you have any comments about the AoM PDW, ideas, comments or questions please use this discussion forum.
The features of extreme eventsUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).

One of our key tasks it to identify the features of ‘extreme events’ that make managing change in their aftermath straightforward in some cases, and difficult in others.

What do you think about our classification of an extreme event?
