As part of participation in the forthcoming Inter-Agency Management Development Centre, we have provided the competency profile we will be using, and some guidance on preparation for your competency based interview.
In addition, you are required to complete 2 pre programme activities; the WAVE personality questionnaire and a 360 degree feedback session. Please find details for both of these below.
WAVE Personality Questionnaire
This preparation guide is designed to help you understand how to approach the Professional Styles questionnaire. The questionnaire explores a person’s motives, preferences, needs and talents within a work context. Research has demonstrated that Saville Consulting Wave questionnaires are powerful predictors of a wide variety of performance and behaviour at work.
Professional Styles can help you:
• understand your motives, preferences, needs and talents in a work context
• find ways to make better use of your preferred working style in your current job role, or identify future job roles, environments and cultures suited to your style
• increase your awareness of how your work style impacts on your experiences at work
The questionnaire is presented on-screen in blocks of 6 statements which you are asked to rate on a nine-point scale, ranging from ‘Very Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Very Strongly Agree’. Please enter your responses by clicking on the appropriate rating for each statement. You must respond to every statement to progress to the next screen. If you give the same rating for two or more statements, these statements may be presented to you again and you will be asked to indicate which statement is most like you and which statement is least like you.
When completing the questionnaire, it is important you consider the following points:
• When answering each question be as discerning as possible by using the full range of possible responses, from ‘Very Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Very Strongly Agree’. Please try to respond from a work context.
• Read each statement carefully, as what you are good at and what you feel you need may be very different.
• Respond to the statements as honestly as you can. There are no right or wrong answers; job roles vary and there are many ways of being effective in any one job.
• A number of response checks are built into the questionnaire to validate the consistency of your responses. Your responses will also be verified against other information collected.
• Before you complete the questionnaire, you may find it useful to reflect on your own work style. You may also find it useful to consider any feedback you have received from others on your style at work.
• The questionnaire is best completed when you are alert and free from interruptions.
• If you have any special requirements it is important that you make these known immediately to allow appropriate accommodations to be made. (if you wish, I could add link here to provide details on the validity and reliability of the WAVE instrument
You will receive an email from System.Administrator@sc-oasys.com which will provide you with the link to the questionnaire and your login details. The questionnaire will take between 30 - 40 minutes to complete.
360 Degree Questionnaire
In order to help you derive the most benefit from the Interagency Management Development Centre Programme, we would like you to complete a 360º Questionnaire.
The questionnaire asks you to rate yourself against the behaviours and skills which underpin the Interagency Management Development Centre Programme. These behaviours and skills are based on the United Nations competency framework. You will need to ask your line manager/supervisor to complete the questionnaire about you, and in addition, you are required to nominate six others, i.e. 3 peers or clients and 3 direct reports or people you have influence over if this is relevant to your role.
To complete the questionnaire please click on the link below and do the following in order:

At the login page please enter your unique username and password which are being sent to you in an email from Philippa Thurgur. (You may find it easiest to copy and paste these into the system as they are case sensitive). This will automatically take you to the Edit your personal details page.
You will be asked to enter information about yourself. Once you have completed the required fields please press ‘submit’. This will take you to your Personal Homepage.
Select ‘Set-up your 360 Reviewers’ to enter the details of the individuals who you are nominating to complete the questionnaire about you; in addition to your Line Manager you must nominate 6 others. Please include their name, their relationship to you, e.g. Direct Report, Peer or Other, their email address and a contact telephone number.
We strongly advise that you speak to all your reviewers before you enter this information to gain their buy-in to the process of providing you with feedback within the timescale. The deadline for all completed questionnaires can be found on the 'Schedule and Key Dates' Tab located in the menu on the left. It is important to let your reviewers know that all their feedback will be anonymous unless they are your Line Manager/Supervisor. Within 24 hours your Line Manager/Supervisor and other nominated reviewers will be sent an email containing completion instructions, a link to the questionnaire and their login details. Press ‘submit’ and this will take you back to your Personal Homepage.
Click on ‘Select a 360 questionnaire to complete’ to complete your own questionnaire. The questionnaire should take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete. We would advise that you try and set aside enough time to complete it in one sitting, but if you are interrupted you can save the questionnaire and return to it later.
It is also important to point out that even when you have finished the questionnaire you can go back in and amend your scores or comments up until the deadline.
Once you have completed your questionnaire you can also log back into the system to monitor when your reviewers have returned their questionnaires. You do this on your Personal Home page by clicking ‘View the status of your own 360º session.’
You will receive a computer-generated report summarising your feedback during the Programme, and this report belongs to you.
The data obtained will be used for two purposes only:
(1) by you for the purposes of planning your development; and
(2) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Interagency Management Development Centre Programme. No individuals will be identified or identifiable in this evaluation. Your personal data is confidential to you unless you choose to share it.
To enable us to produce your feedback report in time for the Programme it is essential that you log on to the system and provide us with the details of your reviewers as soon as possible, so we can send them their link to the questionnaire.
